The Momma Francie Scholarship was established in 2021 to honor the memory of Francesca Basquez, better known as "Francie". Francie was a passionate and dedicated advocate for young athletes, and her life's work was dedicated to helping them reach their goals of playing sports at a collegiate level.

Momma Francie Scholarship is a 501(c)3 organization that provides financial assistance to student athletes of all ages. Our goal is to help these athletes achieve their dreams, regardless of their economic background. 2024 Scholarship Winner
Ella
Meet Ella, a remarkable 5th-grade student who has consistently maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA and has been honored on the Principal's Honor Roll for five consecutive years. She has garnered accolades such as the Kindness, Patience, and Technology Award, and has been recognized with the Outstanding Reading Certificate for achieving the highest reading proficiency among her 5th-grade peers. Not only does Ella excel academically, but she also dedicates her summer days to volunteering twice a week, teaching young children the basics of wrestling. Her commitment extends to rigorous training schedules, including wrestling sessions 3-4 times a week, Brazilian jiu-jitsu training 2-3 times weekly, and engaging in strength and conditioning exercises twice a week. Additionally, Ella actively participates in the local swim team, practicing 3-5 days per week during the summer and competing in weekend meets. Throughout the school year, she showcases her musical talent by playing the trombone in the school band.


2024 Scholarship Winner
Corrine
Meet Corinne, a senior student-athlete at Lincoln High School. She dedicates 20 hours per week to training, dividing her time between the pool and the gym as a committed swimmer. Corinne's strong work ethic extends beyond sports to her academic pursuits, evident in her impressive academic standing as the second-ranked student out of 680 peers. Notably, she received the Outstanding Achievement in Mathematics Award from Sandia National Laboratories earlier this year. Grateful for the unwavering support of her family, friends, and coaches, Corinne is driven to pay this kindness forward by volunteering as a swim coach for children aged 2-10 on Mondays through Thursdays. Sharing her love for swimming and contributing to her community remain integral aspects of her life's mission.
2023 Scholarship Winner
Leah
Leah is a remarkable individual who graduated from Casa Robles High School in 2023 as the valedictorian of her class. She has been an active member of her high school band for four years and continues to volunteer in her community band. Leah has a passion for computer science and plans to pursue a career as a software engineer. Her dedication and hard work have earned her a scholarship award, and we are excited to see all that she will accomplish in the future.

Brooke
Brooke is an exceptional individual who graduated from Elk Grove High School with a 4.1 GPA. She is a highly skilled athlete who played varsity softball and tennis during her high school years and is currently pursuing her athletic and academic goals at Cosumnes River College. Brooke is not only committed to her sport but also to her community, as evidenced by her active volunteerism. Her dedication to service was recognized when she received the 2023 Girl Scout Gold Award. Brooke has ambitious plans for her future and intends to transfer to a four-year university after completing her studies at Cosumnes River College. We are honored to have Brooke as a 2023 scholarship awardee and are confident that she will continue to achieve great things in her future endeavors
2022 Scholarship Winner
Kylie
Kylie, is the first recipient of the Momma Francie scholarship. Kylie is a recent graduate of Granite Bay High School, where she excelled academically with a 3.3 GPA and demonstrated her athletic prowess as a varsity softball player. She's now pursuing her passion for criminal justice at South Carolina State University. Kylie is also a dedicated volunteer in her community. She's contributed her time and efforts to Sacramento County homeless outreach, church youth summer camp , local animal shelters, and coaching youth softball at American River College. We're proud to support Kylie's academic journey and have no doubt that she'll continue to make a positive impact in her community and beyond.
